Filmmaker. From the South. Educated in Boston. Living in Los Angeles.

W. D. Hogan began as a Storyboard Artist for directors Sydney Pollack, Jaume Collet-Serra, Scott Hicks, Doug Limon and Cameron Crowe, among others, on features and commercials such as Jerry Maguire,” The Orphan,” “The Matrix: Path of Neo” and “Riddick.”

He segued into directing music videosdocumentaries and commercials for Chris Robinson’s Robot Films before making an award winning short film, (Pieces of) America,” in 2002.  Hogan made his feature debut with “Soldier of God,” a film set in the Crusades about a Templar and the Battle of Hattin.

After directing episodic for Fox, Discovery and SpikeTV (Deadliest Warrior), he directed features “Earth’s Final Hours” (2012) and Letter Never Sent (2015).

W. D. Hogan is currently adapting Jim Starlin’sMindgames” for Solipsist Films.


Member Directors Guild of America and the Art Directors Guild.



W. D. Hogan storyboarded over 200 commercials, music videos, television series, videogames and features.  His Commercial and Music Video clients include Sydney PollackRob CohenDoug LimanScott HicksDavid LaChapelleJessy TerreroSam BayerErich JoinerMichel Gondry, Dave Meyers and Chris Robinson.

He illustrated campaigns for Hummer, Budweiser, Coke, DirecTV, US Army, Lexus, Ford and Jaguar.  And boarded music videos for artists Foo FightersSnoop Dogg, The Vines and P. Diddy.
